About N.W.A.
West coast gangsta rap started with N.W.A. and continued with them to. Formed in Compton, California in 1986, the hip hop group N.W.A. may have disbanded in 1991 but the figures who have led the group are still the biggest influences in the business. Naturally, they are Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, who formed the first gangsta rap group and assured the style stays with us to this day.
